![]() Steam Valve technology set to transform meal times LPF Flexible Packaging has teamed up with Avery Dennison, a global leader in pressure-sensitive technology, to deliver a modern cooking concept called FlexisTM Steam.
FlexisTM Steam is a pressure-sensitive valve that can be applied to most flexible food packaging, lidding films or moulded containers for the purpose of steaming or cooking convenience food in a microwave or oven. LPF applies the steam-release valve in register using its labelling production facilities and applies high precision laser engraving perforations to minimise the risk of reel contamination.
FlexisTM Steam provides a hermetic seal that initially protects the contents of the product and becomes self-venting during the cooking process to maximise preparation efficiency. The technology also regulates a gradual temperature balance throughout the cooking process to maintain food quality. Other benefits include same-way opening and venting away from the ‘grab area’ of the product for consumer safe handling when removing hot ready meals from the microwave or oven. The concept is compatible with most packaging films and can be seamlessly integrated into the package design in both clear and printed formats. The steam valve can be used in packaging for ready meals, snacks, vegetables and other products.
Ron Harland, Sales Manager at LPF, said: “The FlexisTM Steam valve is a fantastic new concept and is already proving to be a real winner with some of our existing and new customers. As an innovator in our field, we worked closely with Avery Dennison, which is renowned for its ingenuity and superior service, to develop a market leading product to bring real benefits to the consumer. “From stand-up-pouch snack products to film-lidded ready meals, the steam release valve ensures that a steady temperature balance and heating process is achieved for perfect cooking results every time.” News |
